‌1. Solvent Cleaning Method‌
‌Banana oil: Mix 1:1 with water and pour into the can. Scrub with a rag to quickly remove paint residue, then rinse thoroughly with clean water. This method works for most paint types and is particularly effective with oil-based paint.
‌Gasoline or kerosene: Effectively dissolves stubborn oil-based paint, but should be used away from flames. After cleaning, rinse again with soapy water to remove any remaining oil stains.
‌Olive oil or toilet water: Natural solvents are suitable for household use. After applying, let sit for a while before rinsing with soapy water to avoid corrosive damage and are environmentally safe.
‌2. Physical Removal Method‌
‌Hot Water Soaking: Plastic cans can be soaked in boiling water for 10-15 minutes. Once the paint softens, remove any remaining paint. This method is particularly effective with water-based paint.
‌Mechanical Scraping: For metal cans, gently scrape the inside with a steel tool (such as a spatula). Combined with a solvent, this method can thoroughly remove any dried, hardened paint. Be careful not to scratch the can. 3. Special Material Treatment
Plastic cans: Avoid using strong acids or alkalines. A baking soda solution (50g baking soda + 1L hot water) is recommended for both stain removal and odor removal.
Metal cans: After cleaning, dry immediately and apply anti-rust oil to prevent oxidation and rust on the inner wall.
